Madoka Mayuzumi[Poems of 17syllables]Title

Till my hair dries, my dear soil, lovely sky.

An evening breeze was blowing as I waited for my hair to dry. In my small garden I browsed around looking at some flowers about to bloom and then looking up at the lovely sky.

Although only a short while till my hair dried, I had a peaceful moment getting acquainted with the soil and the sky.

Mountains laugh, pushing everything is one of the ways.

To accomplish one’s goal by pushing one’s way through all obstacles is called “push everything.” When influenced by “pushing everything” one is often easily pushed into its hands.

The scene of the new sprouts inter-mixed with the pink color of the mountain cherry blossoms is a haiku term called “mountains laugh.” There are no calculations nor planned landscapes, but rather the spring mountains are gently watching nature’s clumsy way of “pushing everything.”

Gather to see cherry blossoms, part under moonlight.

The party was to be under the cherry blossom trees in the moonlight. Everyone came through the tunnel of cherry blossoms, and after the party they went home under the beautiful moon.

Speaking of cherry blossom parties, recently many people have started to merely get drunk and noisy under the cherry trees and do not appreciate the beautiful blossoms. Under the beautiful blossoms and the moon, it is truly enjoyable to share haiku and the conversation in a slightly tipsy mood.

It is an unforgettable experience to be able to share the elegance of cherry blossoms and moon together through the haiku that are composed at the party.

The borrowed umbrella came back with cherry blossom’s pedals on.

I let someone borrow my umbrella and it came back with cherry blossom petals on it. The umbrella had been walked under the cherry blossom trees. I imagined how this person with my umbrella had spent her time.

The flower petals on the umbrella try to tell me of the flamboyance of cherry blossom season and the shiny rain.

April Fools’ Day, again madly in love with the same type.

The men I fall in love with always have something in common. It seems for a moment that they are different types, but after a while I notice the similarities among them. Perhaps, that is love.

The Japanese term “mangusetsu” means April Fools’ Day. Although it may be a trick of love, love is blind. I suddenly realize that I am madly in love with the same type of man again.
