Hoarse voice, summer ends for bench-warmers.
Besides the Koshien National Baseball Championship for high school students,
there are many sports events during the summer. Also, there are many bench-warmers who never participate in the games. Even though they could not play in the games, they are satisfied because they did their best, cheering until they lost their voices. The hoarse voice is, for them, their prize.
It was a hot but agonizing summer for the bench-warmers. We should not forget those who fight their best behind their teams at the colorful games.

Kissing, we are turned away from by all the sunflowers.
We were kissing in the sunflower field. As the name implies, sunflower blossoms face toward the sun. We intended to hide our kissing behind the sunflowers, but then we realized that all the sunflowers seem to have turned away from us.
Perhaps we felt that way because of the embarrassment of kissing.

The constellations of stars returned after the Daimonji ceased.
gDaimonjih is an event to send off the spirits on Urabon-e held on August 16 every year. Nationally, the Daimonji that is lit on Nyoigatake Mountain in Kyoto is especially well-known.
When beautiful and dynamic Daimonji was over, I noticed many stars were brightly shining in the evening sky. While my mind had been on the Daimonji, I had completely forgotten about the existence of stars in the sky. It seems that stars have returned to the sky after the fire of the Daimonji ceased.
The brightness of the stars seemed like the spirits we had just sent off.

Kicking the bank on A-bomb Commemoration Day, a boat is pushed off.
August 6th and 9th are the dates when the A-bombs were dropped over Nagasaki and Hiroshima. In haiku, we call this day A-bomb Commemoration Day with the wish that such a tragedy will never happen again.
August is the season of vacations to the sea and the mountains. But even as we are having fun, we take a moment to remember A-bomb Commemoration Day and Armistice Day.
The moment I push the boat off from the shore the thought that today was A-bomb Commemoration Day crossed my mind.
There are days we should never forget no matter how peaceful and happy today is.
