Traveling in a far away land and looking at cherry blossoms, it's only you I think of.

This time of year I often see cherry blossoms when I travel. But no matter where I visit, or what cherry blossoms I see, your image is always superimposed on them.

People have been going blossom viewing since ancient times, although in those days it was to see plum blossoms rather than cherry. It is not just about looking at the lovely flowers in front of you. I think that each time a person looks at cherry blossoms it is as if his or her feelings and thoughts are reflected, as in a mirror. This is the reason why you get a different inspiration each time, even though you see cherry blossoms every year.

In my case, ever since I discovered haiku I look at cherry trees in a completely different way than before, and I stand under the cherry trees as a composer of haiku. By the way, the cherry blossoms I like best are not those in full bloom or about to fall, but the blossoms that are about to open, because in these blossoms there is a feeling, "a moment of waiting to bloom".

Cherry blossoms on a chilly day, a pair of high heels are vulnerable.

Though gentlemen may not know it, high heels are so easy to scratch, and even a small scratch is so noticeable. Also, to walk with high heels on makes us so tired.

But in order to make our legs look beautiful, women wear fragil looking heels.

"Cherry blossoms on a chilly day" means that during the cherry blossom season it can suddenly get cold as though winter has returned. Because of their beauty, when the blossoms are at their best, one gets a feeling of uncertainty. It also refers to the spectacular and lonely feeling one gets on chilly day during their blossoming. On that chilly day, as I carelessly got a scratch on my elegant and fragile high heels, the loneliness and uncertainty of being a woman crossed my mind.

A petal or two of cherry blossoms, you are unforgettable.

When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, their petals begin to fall one by one, as if they can no longer bear to hold on. I stand under the tree as if trying to catch a glimpse of the one whose love ended. I may never see him again, but I will keep my precious memory of him as long as I live.

He was a wonderful person. And, even though our love came to an end, I am proud of the fact that I fell in love with him.

I whisper to myself, "I will never forget you as long as I live."

Spring is the season of encountering and parting, and this is one of the scenes particular to this season.

Trying to see cherry blossoms, I put my bag on flower petals.

During my journey I encountered cherry blossoms in full bloom.

As they were so beautiful, I stopped intending to put down my travellingbag and appreciate them for a while. But, the ground was covered with theflower petals which had just fallen from the tree.

Saigyo, an ancient poet, who was called "the poet of the flower," leftcountless poems about cherry blossoms. He said that the most beautifulcherry blossoms in this world are the "falling blossoms in a dream". Inother words, the cherry blossoms that fall in our dreams may refer toimaginary flowers, but from where I stood, I could see the cherry blossomsin full bloom above me, flower petals under my feet, and flower petals falling all around me like rain. Perhaps Saigyo was describing this scenein his "falling blossoms in a dream". It was as though I was in the worldof dreams.

It was such a beautiful and fantastic moment.
