Wild flowers, the distance that follows a confession of his heart.
There must be many women who have experienced a confession of love from a
man whom she considered a friend, business colleague, or childhood friend.
Until then he was a man with whom she could speak naturally, but the moment
he confessed his love to her, an awkward distance was born between them.
The intimacy of love does not always arise just because a man and a woman
are good friends.
In Japan there is a saying, "Better unsaid." Sometimes a relationship is
best protected by keeping one's true feelings unspoken, whether the
relation is a good one as lovers, or whether it remains one of friends.
When autumn comes, the grass in the mountains or along the roads is dotted
with flowers. They are by no means gorgeous, but they are so natural and
pretty. Although a relationship of "friends" or "childhood friends" may not
be glamorous, unlike lovers, they have a feeling of reassurance like the
wild flowers.

Sitting on an autumn beach, all are moving far away from me.
One autumn day, I was sitting on the beach and watching the waves.
People are rarely seen on the beach now, only a few with dogs or joggers
passing by or elderly couples with their walking sticks. Ships are leaving
on their distant voyages, and it seems that the clouds and people are also
moving far away, leaving me here alone.
Looking back on the passing summer, all I remember are things and loves
that left me, and the people I will never see again. During the summer
people met and parted; but is it because now is autumn and that all I
remember are those things that have departed from me?
The beach in autumn has an atmosphere as if I have been left there all
alone.

Autumn leaves tinted and falling, stone-paved road of reunion.
"Autumn leaves tinted and falling" refers to the changing color of the
leaves and falling leaves, and are the season words that simultaneously
convey the image of autumn.
One autumn day I was able to have a reunion with an old friend of mine on a
street corner in Europe. It was on an old, old stone-paved road with a
history that went back hundreds and thousands of years. Some leaves tinted
red and gold amidst the leaves falling created a beautiful stage for our
reunion.
On this old paved road, I wondered how many lovers, families and friends
had repeatedly met and parted, creating their own drama. The beautiful
leaves that are falling on the stone pavement while changing colors seem to
symbolize those many dramas.

Autumn festival, sending a letter with her little brother.
Autumn festivals and fire works are exiting events for a girl living in a
small town where there are no amusement parks or discos. Under the festival
lights, the boy she cherishes looks cool and very different from the boy
she sees in school.
On the festival day, the girl wishes somehow to go to the fair with this
boy. Even if her wish does not come true, at least she can let him know how
she feels. Having her little brother play Cupid, she sents a letter to him.
"Give this letter to him, and I will buy you a toy."
The magic word "toy" sends her little brother running off at once. The girl
watches her brother's small back as he runs, completely unaware of how his
sister feels.
