右肘の炎症で開幕から負傷者リスト入り。7日（同8日）に本拠地サンディエゴでのダイヤモンドバックス戦で、今季初マウンドに上がった。4回途中まで63球を投げ、3安打2失点。黒星を喫したが、最速95・9マイル（約154キロ）で5三振を奪い、復活を印象付けた。
